Thanks to technological advances, something new is introduced every year in the field of materials as well. For example, the ability to work with lasers has enabled various decorative cut-outs in textiles, which create a highly decorative effect when light passes through them. Likewise, special crinkling and pleating of materials look very striking in contemporary decorations. A similar trend can be seen in the treatment of standard, time-tested materials such as linen or silk, where various technological processes give fabrics improved functional properties. Each year, the number of fabrics made from fire-retardant materials also continues to increase.
